AB de Villiers posted a self made video on his app to announce this news. In the video he stated that it’s time for someone else to take over to take South African Cricket forward and recommended that Faf Du Plesis can be the right man for this job as he has done exceedingly well as a Test and T-20 captain.
AB made this announcement when voices where coming from all over for him opting out if tests in a bid to prolong his career. After stepping down from the captaincy, he has cleared the airs by saying that he is available for all 3 formats. After a poor showing in the Champions Trophy and also his form far from his mighty best has lead to this build up so many suspects. He was leading the South African ODI team since last 6 years and has enjoyed huge success apart from faltering at the ICC tournaments. He also cleared the air that playing for South Africa has always been his first priority and he has not played a single test since January 2016 due to his mental and physical instability.
The 360 degree man who has garnered fans all across the globe is arguably one the best modern day batsman and ahs terrorized the bowlers since a decade with his unorthodox yet effective shots. Wherever he goes, he will find his fans cheering for him. He will be a vital cog in South Africa’s 2019 world cup campaign, as this will be his last world cup that he will be playing and wanted to play it with on burden on his shoulders. This move can be a masterstroke if AB ticks all the boxes which he previously used to. He has been one of the most sought after players in almost all the lucrative T-20 leagues of the world. He said that this extended break after the champion’s trophy has made him feel revived and refreshed.
He is currently sweating it out in the nets and has made it clear that he will available for selection from mid-October onwards. India is schedules to tour South Africa later this year and his selection will make the contest even stronger. South Africa is scheduled to host Bangladesh in September for a full tour which includes 3 ODIS, 2 T20Is and 2 test.
