He surpassed Anders Antonsen’s challenge with ease. However, he is scheduled to play world number 1 seed player Son Wan Ho of Korea in the quarter finals. Srikanths in the previous two editions finished till pre-quarters and this time, he has bettered that record by advancing till quarters. He is just one win away from coming with a medal. Head to Head record against him and Son Wan Ho is 4-4. Srikanth has already beaten him twice this year in Australia and Indonesia where he eventually ended up winning the titles.
Among defeats, two of promising players Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth however, were knocked out of the tournament in the pre-quarters. More bad news followed from the doubles front as well.
