Hurricane Irma is arguably one of the most powerful Hurricanes in recorded history of Atlantic Ocean. The hurricane was arguably one of the devastating one as well as it has made its first ever landfall on the small islands of the north-east Caribbean. It has already hit the coasts of other Caribbean islands like the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Cuba and it will move towards Florida, US, by this Friday morning. All the hospitals have been remained closed to get prepared for the worst hit from Hurricane Irma.
The phone lines have gone down in the area. People are huddled in their homes or the shelters provided by government. Officials soon after the Hurricane Irma hit announced warnings from the onslaught that the hurricane has brought. The storm has already ripped off the local police station in Barbuda and then it slammed into other islands like Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy. It has caused severe floods in these island’s low-lying areas. Officials in both the islands have evacuated almost 11,000 people residing in the affected areas.
The United States President has already laid out warning and has declared emergencies in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and Florida. The storm’s eye is predicted to move about 80kms from the island of Puerto Rico on late night on Wednesday. The manic Monday that started the hurricane Irma seems to be in no mood to spare any of the islands. As predicted by the weather experts, the hurricane is expected to dump around 18inches of rain in some of the areas when in lands. NHC came out with the warning that this amount of rainfall is capable of life-threatening mudslides and flash floods. Government agencies and schools have already been shut down on various Caribbean islands immediately after warning was laid out. Authorities though have made sure that people residing on shores will be transferred to safe places.

People are warned to not go on surfboarding is this hurricane is life threatening and the weather service department has already made statements that a hurricane of this magnitude has not hit the island since Hurricane San Felipe in the year 1928 which took life of 2748 people including Puerto Rico and Florida. Till late Tuesday night no reports of death have been reported. People in Florida have already started stocking up food and drinking water supplies. The officials have urged residents on Florida to stock three days worth food and water.
