In wake of slow, as well as lagging website and app of the IRCTC, which always caused a great deal of time and delay in ticket-bookings Indian Railway has announced a better website and new app launch in near future. It is promised to provide a faster ticket-booking facility with a whole new server. The app will be android inspired to be as much user-friendly, jitter-free along with a much faster and fluent log-in and location navigating services. All this will save you from a lot of misery which includes frequent timed-out sessions during ticket-bookings.
It is speculated that Railways is planning on introducing various new features on their website and app to ensure an easy ticket-booking experience. The new features will include an SMS alert service which will inform the passengers about their arrival and departure train schedules on a timely basis. This SMS alert service will also include messages on any delay, if any, caused by their train schedule including the cause for the delay, as well as the time period between two train stations.
An impressive new feature will also be included using help from the ISRO (Indian space research organization) to get an exact location of the train using space satellites which will be made available to the passengers.
The app was launched by the previous Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu who proudly insisted on this app as advancement in technology to make a better passenger experience with the Indian Railways. He also mentioned the need for us to have an integrated app which is able to provide a single window interface for all these services.
Not only rail tickets, a passenger can also book air tickets through the new IRCTC app for various government airlines. The app, namely, The Rail SAARTHI will make available a passenger with its customer care services, such as safety for women, complaint facility, feedback & suggestion, and etcetera.
This move was much anticipated by the Railways given a massive amount of reports on complaints going on around regarding the slow responding IRCTC website. Many complaints pointed that the webpage would most often crash whilst peak hours or holiday season. Unfortunately, despite a website passenger had to contact an agent to book the railway ticket. Therefore, Railways decided to take a much-needed step and upgrade its website, and App which was launched back in July to cater to a passenger with various needful requirements. Quite remarkably, IRCTC has been able to fall onto our expectations of an ideal railway website.
