With the first T20 match Pakistan dominated over World XI and beat them by 20 runs and we hoped that it will continue further, but World XI in the second have squared off the series and have won the match at Lahore by 7 wickets. Pakistan was considered as the no-go zone, country for most of the foreign nations due to its Lahore attack of 2009. But a team known as the World XI coached by Andy Flower has given a hope for a better and brighter future.
Zimbabwe was the only team that toured and played an International series in Pakistan in 2015 after the horrific and terrific militant attack that took place during Sri Lankan team visit to Pakistan in 2009. Thanks to coach Andy Flower and Lahore had been bustling with enthusiasm and excitement. There is a kind of festival environment in the air, after the team World XI has arrived in the country since Monday.
The World XI played their first match at the historic Gaddafi Stadium, where they arrived in a safety bomb-proof bus with so many security guards controlling their all moves. But they lost their first match 20runs. It was an important occasion as well for the host team too, as their five players, namely Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali and Rumman Raees, have made their debut on the homeland for the first time. Team World XI on the contrary equalised the series in the next game by winning the match by 7 wickets.
The idea of this tour was implanted last year and the Pakistan Super league board had played a greater role in making it work for once and all. They say that this is not the only series that is happening in Pakistan; besides this there are two more tournaments in the pipeline that Pakistan Cricket team is looking forward to host.
The Pakistan Cricket board is already in touch with Sri Lankan Cricket board for a one-off T-20 International series to take place in Lahore next month and then they are in discussion with West Indies Cricket board for a three-match series to be held up in November.
For this moment, three match series has come to an interesting route, where both the teams are levelled at 1-1. The next and the final match will take place tomorrow, i.e. on Friday.
