The technology is getting futuristic gradually and SGNL is another example of it. The way Bluetooth headsets brought a change in the daily working way of the people. SGNL has stepped in the market to overcome even that change. The problem of taking out the phone from the pocket to make or receive a call will be now solved. Now you just need your finger to do that.
What is SGNL?
It is a band that gets attached to your watch and allows you to make and receive calls by just putting your fingertip in your ear. It’s like April fool, no? But it’s real that you don’t even need to touch your phone, just put your finger or thumb in the ear.
It’s just not interesting, it’s shocking that this band makes your natural finger an advanced phone. It’s like we have arrived the future which we used to dream and see only in the cartoons.
It gets paired to the phone over the Bluetooth and sends the vibration through your finger to the ears as you put the finger in the ear. The vibration occurs according to the voice signal due to the Body Conduction Unit (BCU) which is there on the strap. As soon as you put your finger in the ear the vibration will echo and will amplify in your ear cavity. The strap also has the microphone for you to be heard on the other side.
SGNL is made by Inmodle lab which was a part of Samsung’s C-Lab and was spun off from Samsung in 2015. It has brought its new project in the market with some help from Kick-starter.
Despite of being from such a good company there is a doubt about this project that will it go in the full production or not. Moreover, the other risk factor is that it is not guaranteed that it will ship on time. Now these two factors make one think twice before ordering.
The SGNL strap is being sold for around $139. Despite the single feature of making and receiving calls through your finger there is no other interesting twist to it. It doesn’t require a smart watch and can get attached to your analogue watch too. It has a partner app that tracks your activity and reminds you about your calls, text messages and notification by buzzing.
