With the announcement of Tesla semi all electric heavy duty truck many companies have come forwarded for pre-booking. The list has been increasing from the day Elon Musk has launched the Tesla Semi and roadstar.
Walmart and Loblaws were the first to announce that they have ordered 40 Tesla semi trucks. JK Moving services, the largest independent moving company has ordered 4 Tesla semi trucks and also ready to place 5 electric sleeper cabs as said by elecrek.
Gazing towards the innovation Tesla has created ripples in automobile industry and now it is planning to target the HCV makers in the market. Elon musk was to keen on his approach regarding the price range of Tesla semi and Roadster during the launch and was focused only on the operational cost.
Tesla has listed the pricing for Tesla semi. Comparing to the normal diesel trucks that costs around $120,000 Tesla semi cost is comparatively lower than what was expected by many aggressive industry forecasters. The regular 300mile and 500mile range versions are priced at $150,000 and $180,000 respectively as per the Electek sources and Tesla has also listed the price for ‘foundation series’ version at $200,000.
The basic deposit to pre-order the Tesla Semi was $5000, but now they have revised the pricing for pre-order booking deposits to ‘$20,000’ for basic product versions and for ‘Foundation series’ full amount needs to be paid.
Coming to the performances of Tesla semi truck Musk has confirmed that it has four independent electric motors on rear axles which enable the truck to reach 0-60 mph with full load in 20 seconds. The consumption of energy is less than 2 kWh/ mile.
Tesla, a revolution in transport industry has never failed in delivering at what they are best yet. Tesla is building trucks only to North America as for now but the demand has reached global. As per the electrek sources Italian truck company Fercam has ordered for Tesla Semi truck using its US partner MAO Inc.
Tesla semi is expected to run on the roads by 2019.
