The year 2017 saw some prominent and successful launches in the mobile phone market. Now that February, the month of Mobile World Congress (MWC), is upon us, smartphone enthusiasts naturally cannot keep calm. Here are the top 10 smartphones expected to launch this month.
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
The huge success of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India has heightened expectations from the Redmi Note 5, due to launch this month. While Xiaomi has kept the features of their newest smartphone under the wraps, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to have a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 3GB and 4GB RAM variants. It could also be the first Xiaomi smartphone with a Snapdragon 630 processor.
- Nokia 6
The Nokia 6 is expected to be globally launched at the MWC. Since the company has decided to focus on improvement of the performance, the Nokia 6 has not seen much change in external features. The smartphone would house a Snapdragon 630 processor and 4GB RAM, with 32GB and 64GB internal storage options. It is also expected to sport the latest Android Oreo version.
- Asus Zenfone 5
The MWC invites sent out by Asus hint at the fact that they may be releasing their ZenFone 5 series. From what is seen in the invite, Qualcomm Snapdragon will power the smartphone series. Rumours are also afloat about Asus launching a Zenfone 5 Lite with a 6-inch display, besides the ZenFone 5 Max that would sport the Android Oreo.
- Moto G6 Series
Lenovo is all set to extend the highly successful Moto G series with its new launches, namely the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play. The Moto G6 is rumoured to sport an all metal design, widescreen display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and the latest Android Oreo out of the box.
- Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra
These smartphones were unveiled at the CES 2018 and are launching in India this month. Preserving Sony’s statement boxy design, both the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra house the Snapdragon 630 chipset with 4GB RAM. Both smartphones feature dual optics and while the XA2 has a 5.2-inch full HD display, the the XA2 Ultra boasts of a 6-inch full HD screen.
- Gionee S11
The Gionee S11 was launched in China in 2017 and is expected to be launched in India later this month. The smartphone boasts of a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and dual-cameras both in front and back. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset and 4GB of RAM with an internal storage of 64GB.
- Moto X4(6GB)
The Moto X4 was launched in India in November, 2017 and Motorola will launch the 6GB RAM variant this February. Expected to be priced at approximately 25,000, the smartphone sports a 5.2-inch full HD display with 3000 mAh battery. The 6GB variant may sport the Snapdragon 636 SoC, an upgrade over its predecessor.
- Infinix S-series Smartphone
Infinix is a sub-brand of Transsion Holdings and is expected to launch a smartphone to be a part of the selfie-centric S-series. The smartphone is rumoured to sport a dual rear camera setup. It would also feature a 16-megapixel front camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture.
- LG V30+ Alpha
The successor of the LG V30+ will be launched at the MWC 2018. Some of the rumoured features of the LG V30+ Alpha include the Snapdragon 835 processor, 16MP+13MP dual rear cameras and 3300 mAh battery. The device is expected to sport a 6-inch QHD+ P-OLED display.
- Samsung S9 and S9+
Samsung is going to launch its S9 series at the MWC through an “Unpacked” event. The smartphones are expected to have few upgrades in terms of design, having the same 18:9 wide-screen display. The highlight of the smartphones are super speed dual cameras, advanced water and dust resistance and intelligent scanning for a more sophisticated unlocking.
The above list includes both high-end and mid-range smartphones. The MWC 2018 will show us some exciting and much anticipated smartphone launches and hopefully they will deliver to the expectations of smartphone enthusiasts.
